Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has finished her time as a president of the Philippines on 2010. She was second female president of the Philippines next to Corazon Aquino. She was preceded by the son of Cory Aquino, Benigno “Noy-Noy” Aquino III, whom I am about to discuss.

During the last election, there were a lot of competitors of Aquino. This includes Manny Villar, Chiz Escudero, Gibo Teodoro, Dick Gordon, Joseph Estrada, and Jamby Madrigal. Aquino’s vice president is Jejomar Binay. The people chose whom they think he will change the country in a positive way. Many people voted for Aquino because of his parent’s legacy.

Personally, I didn’t want Aquino to be the president because he just used his parents’ fame. His father, “Ninoy” Aquino, was shot in the back of the head when he stepped out from the airplane. There were many rumors that Imelda Marcos is the one who planned the assassination. Ninoy’s wife, Corazon Aquino, avenged for him by starting the first ever People Power Revolution. She was successful in taking down the current president who was the husband of Imelda Marcos, Ferdinand Marcos. She ruled the Philippines since then.

 I just wanted you to know that I am not approved of him. Looking in our current situation in the country, our economy is drastically decreasing. Citizens become poorer that before. I am not saying that Arroyo’s reign had been good but they’re just the same. We Filipinos are not progressing towards the future. We are stuck in poverty.
