Impeachment Trial 2012

Activity No. 24 (Maria Victoria B. Reccion)

           Never has the position of Chief Justice, or the standing of the Supreme Court, as an institution, been so tainted with the perception of bias and partially, as it is now: not even in the dark days of martial law, has the chief magistrate behaved with such arrogance, impunity, and cynicism. And yet, for the authentic rule of law to prevail, the public must have absolute trust and confidence in the justice, probity, integrity, and impartiality, of the members of the Supreme Court. To have any justice, much more, a Chief Justice, who does not live up to the expectation of being like a Caesar’s wife – beyond reproach – is to fatally impede the ability of our institutions to function and dispense true justice to the people.

                                                            
Renato Corona, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, was impeached on December 12, 2011. Corona was the third official, after President Joseph Estrada on 200 and Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez earlier on 2011, to be impeached by the House Representative.
Corona was perceived as an ally of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who had appointed him as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, days after the 2010 presidential election. This comes after the Supreme Court ruled that the president’s ban on appointments does not extend to the judiciary. Since then, the Supreme Court has been accused of ruling unfavorably of the Aquino administration in cases concerning Arroyo.
I agree with the Prosecutors’ decision of impeaching Chief Justice Renato Corona. Why? It is just right because all he did involves Gloria Arroyo, whom we all know a corrupt person. If I am in the Prosecution right now, I will work really hard just to get him fired! That's what I feel about him.

Climate Change

He has always been my greatest artist. God had made the earth in a matter of a week and it’s so beautiful. Everything God has made has always been beautiful… until we came to the picture. When we are created on the sixth day, God was ecstatic. He was very happy of his creation. The earth was peaceful that time until the time that people abuse His creation.

 Climate change is a significant and lasting change in the statistical distribution of weather patterns over periods ranging from decades to millions of years. It may be a change in average weather conditions or the distribution of events around that average (e.g., more or fewer extreme weather events). Climate change may be limited to a specific region or may occur across the whole Earth.

Scientists say that on the broadest scale, the rate at which energy is received from the sun and the rate at which it is lost to space determine the equilibrium temperature and climate of Earth. This energy is distributed around the globe by winds, ocean currents, and other mechanisms to affect the climates of different regions. The possible causes of this phenomenon may not be always big. Even little acts like smoking can bring a big change to the earth. Using air conditioner is also a way to pollute the environment.

All of these can lead to destruction to our planet and some day it will if we do not do something to prevent it.  Protecting our basic resources like reduction of greenhouse gases and protection of the Earth's atmosphere are two of the most important objectives of sustainable development.

iPhone

Activity No. 22 (Maria Victoria B. Reccion)

January 9 2007, Steve Jobs introduced the first ever iPhone known to mankind. iPhone is a line of internet- and multimedia-enabled smartphones marketed by Apple Inc. The most recently and upgraded iPhone is iPhone 4S. Even if I don’t have this kind of cell phone, I can see by the look of my classmates that it is very lovely and convenient.

iPhone has been very popular these days. It’s like if you don’t have this kind of phone, you are like out dated and they look at you with the expression, what-planet-did-you-come-from-,-Mars? Sigh. Don’t get me wrong but that is what the look like when they knew that I have no iPhone. Seriously! I mean, what’s with people these days?

Anyway, I’m here to describe to you what is iPhone. iPhones are like mobile phones except they’re more advance than any other phones. We don’t have enough money so we can’t afford this. It has special features like: Siri, the intelligent assistant that helps you get things done, and all you have to do is ask; Dual-core A5 chip, two cores in the A5 chip deliver up to two times more power and up to seven times faster graphics and you’ll feel the effects, fast; 8 megapixels camera; 1080 amazing HD video recording; iOS, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system and the easiest to use; iCloud, the manager; Retina display, the highest-resolution phone screen ever; FaceTime, for web online chatting; AirPlay, from the small screen to the big screen; and AirPrint, where you can print wirelessly.

It is really remarkable. We owe Steve Jobs a lot for making iPhone for us.

Cars

Activity No. 21 (Maria Victoria B. Reccion)

            In the early eighty’s and ninety’s, cars are not yet popular in the Philippines. Before, we used to walk or take a bike to go to our desired place. Now, we use a wonderful invention given to man: CARS…


            Cars are very important these days for transportation. Every man has always dreamed to have his own car. Even women, like me, want one. I first fell in love with cars when I watched the movie Transformers. I absolutely love Bumblebee! He is a robot and when he transformed, he turns in to a yellow and black Chevrolet. I always wanted that car ever since I laid eyes on it. That is why I am saving my money to buy a car for myself. Currently, my mother is teaching me how to drive even if I’m not of age. But right now, I only know how to start a car.

            But everything has a disadvantage…

It’s like we can’t live without cars. Walking or biking is not practiced by people here anymore. That is why it’s no wonder why there is too much smoke here in the country. You see, the more you use cars, the more you contribute in polluting our environment. It’s so sad to see so many people use cars at the same time while polluting the ozone layer. 

The only way we can help our mother earth is to reduce the amount of time using cars to prevent smoke coming out of the car. We also have to take care of our car and give them daily check up to avoid smoke belching.

All Time Favorite Movie

Activity No. 20 (Maria Victoria B. Reccion)

Movies, a good example of entertainment… if we are bored to hell, we watch movies to satisfy ourselves. And you’ve got to admit, movies are pretty interesting. There are certain themes for certain movies. For example, there is adventure, romance, comedy, fantasy, horror, family, school life, supernatural, drama, hurt/comfort, tragedy, and many of the sorts.

            My taste for movies depends on my mood. When I’m happy, I want to watch the comedy movies; if I’m depressed, I also want to watch comedy to lighten up my mood. When I’m up for some adventure, I’ll pick a movie and enjoy. Of course, there’s no fun if you alone will watch movies. You have to have company. Well, as we all say, “The more, the merrier!”

            I had watched many movies before that it’s hard to pick one favorite movie. Hmm… let me think for a moment. There’s this movie that I always watch and it’s kind of childish but it’s my most frequently watched movie. It’s called Tangled. It’s a cartoon based movie and talks about the life of Rapunzel with a little twist. The thing I like the most of the movie is the graphics. I like the way they illustrate the characters and it’s just so cute. Anyway, the theme is adventure, fantasy, and romance. It’s very cute to watch and I recommend it to you.

            If we talk about awesome movie, then I had something else in my mind. The name of the movie is “Transformers 3, the Dark of the Moon”. I absolutely love it because of its graphics too. It’s so realistic even if it is fantasy based. It’s all about enormous robots that are alive and had come to save the earth.

            I definitely love those movies. ;)

My Dream Pet

Activity No. 19 (Maria Victoria B. Reccion)

                 Ever since I was a kid, I have this some kind of attachment to animals. They seem to have a connection with me, especially DOGS…

                Well, as you can see on the first sentence, I already gave a hint to my dream pet. Yes, my dream pet has always been a dog. But not just any dog, I want a large dog, particularly a Golden Retriever. Oh my god! I’ve always wanted that! I want a puppy of my own. A cute golden puppy I can hold and show to my friends and family. I want a male dog not a female. I don’t know, but I really don’t like a female dog. Ever since I had dogs of my own, they’re all males. I have only one dog because my first ever one died. Okay, I’m near to tears as I typed this. Ah, memories, he’s always been a good dog. Sigh, anyways, the second one is his son. He’s a cute dog.

                Notice that I didn’t put the breeds of my dogs? Truthfully, I really don’t know. I just got them as a present. Anyway, back to the topic, I’ve always wanted a Golden Retriever simply because of its color, attitude, and its size. About the color, I’ve always admire the color of gold. The attitude, usually on television, a Golden Retriever is a fun-to-be-with kind and easily trained. As I’ve said, I like big dogs.

My Favorite PC Game

Activity No. 18 (Maria Victoria B. Reccion)

                In the early ninety’s, computers were not yet popular with children and teens. When we were still kids, we were usually found in the streets, playing like there’s no tomorrow. Well, what do you expect with children? It’s a nature for them to do that, I thought to myself. I laughed. Anyways, as we grew older and we have developed our little minds, we are introduced to the field of computers…

                And when I say, computers, it also had the games. Mind you, I’m not really into computer games. But since the two idiotic brothers of mine new a lot of games in computer, I usually watch them play. Once, I had played a game called “Generals”. When I watch my brother play it, it was awesome! Of course, out of curiosity, I played it. It was so frustrating! I mean it’s so confusing! Why is it that my brothers played it easily, while I was just a plain loser? Humph…

                Another time I played computer is when I saw an advertisement in T.V. that I wanted to try. So I did. I saw this in Cartoon Network and the site is called Y8 or something. I think they changed the name, not that I cared. Anyway, it was like a collection of different games from different themes, cartoon, or anime. I’ll admit that that’s the only site that I’ve visited when it comes to games especially Diner Dash. It's so fun! It's about serving a restaurant with a time limit. Please, I highly recommend it.

                However, there’s that one game that caught my interest and soon become my all time favorite online game: “Text Twist”! Oh my god! I definitely love that game. It is a mind game that needs a wide vocabulary. A series of letters were on the screen and you have to unscramble it until you find the longest word. Sometimes, when I don’t know the answer, my family comes to the rescue.

HS 2 Computer Class

Activity No. 17 (Maria Victoria B. Reccion)

                When I was still a 3^rd grade student, we don’t have any computer subjects. So it was a surprise for me to have it when we were in 4^th grade. That time, I was nervous and excited at the same time. Up until now, I am happy that we have this subject. I, together with my classmates, am blessed to study in this school to have computers. As I’ve recalled, my first ever teacher in my computer class is Ms. Isabel Tolentino. She was very strict and scared the hell out of me. Seriously! Anyway, that was when I was in elementary. The previous year my teacher was Ms. Tin-Tin Bagayaua and now it is Sir Ruel Carballo.

                FYI, it is my first time that Sir Ruel will handle a class that I am in ever since I came here. Mind you, I’ve been here for ages. Anyway, on the first day of computer class, I was downright nervous. I didn’t think I will come out of the lab in one piece. Luckily I did.

                As days went by, I was getting the hang of the subject. Well, on my first quarter, my grade was not bad. Then the next, it increased greatly! Whoa! I don’t think I deserve that but oh well… this previous quarter it increased ever so slightly. To me, it means that I have to be careful so I can maintain my grade in computer. 

                Well, that’s about it. Conclusion: I LOVE COMPUTER!

My Favorite Food

Activity No. 16 (Maria Victoria B. Reccion)

                “You Are What You Eat”…… Ever heard of that phrase? Well, if you don’t, now you do. Anyways, I’m here to tell you the meaning of it. It means, the notion that to be fit and healthy you need to eat good food. 
 
                Ah, food. I don’t think I can survive without food. It serves as our fuel to our body. Food plays very vital role in maintaining proper health and also helps in prevention and cure of diseases. Good nutritive foods make health, but at the same time bad or unhealthy foods give rise to several diseases.

          For your information, I only eat good foods. I do not eat junk foods, soft drinks, ice creams, chocolates, and other sweets. I eat the right amount of rice, vegetables, (I’m not a vegetable-hater), fruits, and other healthy stuff. I guess I should be thankful to my lifestyle because it doesn’t give me a skinny or a fat body. Well, not that I’m bragging, but I have a right body for my age and it’s all thanks to the food I eat.

                         Anyways, I’m actually here to tell you about my favorite food of all time. Apparently, it’s too difficult for me to pick the best food since I am blessed with a mother who cooks perfectly well. But since I was forced to, might as well get on with it. My favorite food is… PASTA! Well, that’s broad, but every pasta that my mom makes is so delicious! It gives me a tingly feeling whenever I eat them. It’s really one-of-a-kind and unique and it never fails to sketch a smile to my face…

My Favorite Sports

Activity No. 15 (Maria Victoria B. Reccion)

               

Everybody needs exercise once in a while. We need to keep our body from being crippled and our bones to stay strong. One example of having exercise is SPORTS.                                                                                                                                                                   

Sports are very important. Some people play sports for money and fame, but I think the true meaning is to have fun. Children join teams and make friends, and isn't that just a great thing, to know that you have those friends to trust and to grow up with. You can also enjoy sports because you know that you are getting exercise and it feels amazing to have muscles, doesn't it? Exercise is the key to a healthy life style and I think more people should realize that, even though it kills to go outside and sweat, it will pay off in the long run, so if you just take the chance, you will be proud of your work.

I had played many sports before and still playing. I had many interests like basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, table tennis, track and field, swimming, chess, and many other sports. I also like to play Philippine sports like, patintero and Games of the Generals.

Perhaps my favorite sports may be BASKETBALL. Ever since I was still a little girl, I was always found with a ball in my hand. Luckily, I have my two brothers here with me to play. Since I am addicted to anime and manga, I watch sports-themed. I tried tennis for once, and it was so cool!

Sports for me play an important role in my life. It gives me the opportunity to have the body that I wanted through it. And it’s FUUUUN!!

Anyway, that’s all I can say about Sports!

Love…

Activity No. 14 (Maria Victoria B. Reccion)

Anybody, and I mean ANYBODY, can define love. Hmm… I think everybody has found love… except, maybe for me…

I have never been fallen in love. Sure, crushes… But, love? No. But, if you consider the love for God, I am sure that my love for Him is unconditional. Well, what do you expect…? I am very religious.

Anyway, I love my family to death. I am eternally grateful to God that He gave me a wonderful family for me to be loved. You know, I read romance novel. And I somehow, “somehow”, understand them.

Love is painful. Love is contentment. Love is regretful. Love is full of happiness. Love is confusing. Love is blah blah blah… When I substitute myself with the characters, I feel their emotions. I feel their pain, sorrow, happiness, and contentment. I can easily say whether they are hurt or disappointed.

I can relate it in real life. I pity those children who do not have parents that do not love each other anymore and wished to be divorced. One time, I saw a shooting star after I read another tragic romance I wished to God that I wanted all those broken hearted and divorced people to love again and never give up.

I sometimes make love poems and stories for fun. This way, I can release my emotions through writing about LOVE….

My Dreams

Activity No. 12 (Maria Victoria B. Reccion)

Hi! My name is Maria Victoria B. Reccion but you could call me Mavic. I am 14 years old. I am a huge fan of anime so I picked my background, anime style. Actually, I lost my “My Dreams” post but I am determined to finish it. 

Today, we are talking about our dreams. when I was a little kid, I am a great artist so I dreamt to be a famous artist one day when I grow up. when I stepped to elementary school life, I changed my mind to become an architect some day. I have always admired all the structures I see in the Philippines. especially the famous Rizal monument. I had also admired the painting “Spoliarium” which portrays Filipinos and what the Spanish people had done to them. it’s very fascinating, actually. Next, I wanted to become a computer animationist. I wanted to become that because I wanted to be RICH! haha! But….. I changed my mind again…. I will just leave it till I step into my third year.

Now, I am not exactly sure if I wanted to be a computer animationist now… but someday, I wanted to have a job that I enjoy and I get to have lots and lots of money….!!!!

That’s all I have to say for now about my dreams….!
